Many are curious about what a day in the life of a FUE hair transplant procedure is like. What does it entail? How does the day unfold? How long does it take? All these specifics. Here’s how the day typically goes:
- Morning Arrival: You’ll usually arrive between 7 and 8 o’clock in the morning.
- Pre-Procedure Meeting: We’ll meet before the procedure to discuss our plan, go over everything, review and draw the area again, take photos, and answer any questions you might have. Our goal is to ensure you’re super comfortable.
- Preparation: We’ll bring you back for a possible small haircut to prep for the procedure.
- Medication: We give a small cocktail of top-shelf medications to take the edge off and make you feel more comfortable.
- Anesthesia: The numbing part involves very small nerve blocks. As an experienced surgeon, Dr. Wise ensures this process is quick and painless. The anesthesia takes effect in about 30 to 60 seconds, numbing your head and ensuring you feel no pain for the rest of the day.
Throughout the procedure, patients often find it very relaxing. Many even fall asleep because of the medications and the overall mellow atmosphere. We have TVs in all the rooms, so you can watch something, listen to music, or bring your AirPods to enjoy a podcast or music. It is recommended not to engage in work-related activities during the procedure to prevent any impact on your focus caused by the medication.
You’re not confined during the procedure. If you need to use the restroom or stretch your legs, that’s perfectly fine. We also take your lunch order and get whatever you like, making it a pleasant day off from the usual hustle and bustle. The length of the procedure can vary based on the size of the case. Some patients leave in the early afternoon around 1 or 2 PM, while others might be here until between 5 and 7 PM.
We carry out this procedure nearly every day and find it extremely rewarding. Should you have any inquiries about the process, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us by calling (973) 305-1400 or filling out the contact form below. We are more than happy to offer further details.
